Gatherings: { S t e p h a n i e }

Welcome to the first Gatherings post!!  Gatherings is a series where I will be highlighting some of the people and occasions behind the cookies.  If you would like to see your celebration highlighted, please send an email to and provide a short write-up about your event and the people involved, including a few photos is always a good idea!

Now, sit back and enjoy getting to know Stephanie and her bridal party!

Stephanie and her fiance, Jake, have known each other for about 5 years.  Meeting through mutual friends, they realized after about a year of friendship, that they were ready to get to know each other better.  The rest is history in the making!

Stephanie asked me to make a set of cookies for each of the girls that she wanted in her bridal party.  Using the color scheme of her wedding and even a bridesmaids dress style that she likes, I created the perfect set for each of the girls, asking if they would be Stephanie's bridesmaids.  Stephanie and Jake are not planning a traditional wedding, instead, a unique celebration that reflects their interests.  As you read below, you'll see a small glimpse of what I'm talking about.

Each girl received three cookies; a bridesmaid dress, a cake and a plaque asking "Will You Be My Bridesmaid or Flower Girl",  in a special window box from B R P Box Shop.  This is the first order that I've used these boxes for and I absolutely love them!!

Let's read a little about Jake, Stephanie and her bridal party.

He (Jake) is my best friend in the entire world. We are both “Doctor Who” nerds, so when it came time for him to propose, he had to incorporate that. He had a box made to look like a Tardis for my ring (a big part of the show) and I couldn’t say no. Our wedding is going to be on a Friday the 13th, which is a important date for us. We know that it’s typically deemed “unlucky”, but for us, it’s actually pretty lucky.
My bridesmaids are a mix of family and friends. Each holding a very special place in my heart and life.
Theresa, my little sister, is my maid-of-honor. She makes me never want to settle for anything less than what I want in life.

Spencer is my younger cousin by about 5 years. She moved to Iowa when she was entering high school and I haven’t been able to see her as much as I once did, but when I do, its like no time has passed.

My cousin Chrissy and I have been like sisters since birth. She is one of the most important people in my life and always will be.

Cassie and I have been friends for close to 15 years. Anytime I really need something, I know that I can always count on Cassie to come through. Due our work schedules, we don’t get to spend as much time together as we once did, but that doesn’t seem to matter. We always pick up right where we left off.

Adriana is my fiance Jake’s best friend’s fiance, and I have known her for about 4 years. Last year, she was relocated from her job in Philadelphia, PA to Dallas, TX. That was when I realized how important she was to me. Luckily, she has recently moved back to the area and has asked me to be one of her bridesmaids!!

My sister-in-law to be, Sydney, is the last (but not the least) bridesmaid. She is a wonderful person and is always there if I need someone to take my side against Jake or talk about what to wear. We bicker like actual sisters, so I know that she considers me her family already.

My flower girl Alyssa, is my niece. She is the most precious thing I have ever met. She lives in North Carolina so I don’t get to see her very often, but she is continues to grow smarter and more beautiful than the last time I saw her.

One last thing from Stephanie before we go:

Asking these girls has been a wonderful experience. They are the most important friends and family in my life and I can’t imagine sharing this special day with anyone else.......well, besides Jake.

Stephanie, we at "How Sweet!" wish you all the best as you continue to plan and prepare for your big day!!  Thank you for letting us be a special part of this incredibly important time in your life!!  And, I'm assuming that the girls all said yes??
